Driving home my wife was rear ended by a teenage girl who was too busy looking down the highway instead of what was in front of her. My wife was stopped behind another lady waiting to enter the service road and was nailed in the rear. Pushed her into the truck in front of her and added this nice customized hole in the front bumper.
Thank God her and my son were OK.
Hope I just don't have a hassle getting their insurance to replace the front and rear bumpers.
Bad thing is, they don't issue tickets for accidents anymore! Pullit off the road, exchange information and off you go.....

Just what I wanted on my 3.5 month old car!

NOW,THAT SUCKS. really glad everyone is OK. If the other drivers ins. co. is paying(and they dam well better pay) IF your not happy with the way they handle it, GO TO YOUR INS.CO. THATS WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!!!!:mad :( :w

$300 for a new bumper cover plus labor and paint.

I think it shook my son (10) up more than his Mom....must have his Dad's genes.......
So 300 bucks for the front bumper? What about the back, a Dodge Dakota took care of that end.

Appreciate your sympathy in my hour of sorrow (and anger).

Body shop

first off, don't call your ins. co right away. Drop it off at an auto body first or the ins. co. will arrive at your house asap and rob you. They will right you a check that is about half of what you should get because you are a layman and have no idea what the damage is really worth. You will make out far better with a body man standing there. The adjuster will also probably be familiar with the shop and the employees there. Also, any reputable shop will also take care of your deductable, all you have to do is ask, its par for the coarse. My best friends family has been in the business for 50 yrs so I am fairly well versed on all of this. Trust me, you don't want to call them until the car is at the shop, that is exactly what they want you to do. That is why they tell you to call them as soon as you are in an accident. If you have made the mistake already of calling them, cancel the aptmt. to see the vette and drop it off at an autobody. Either the other peoples ins. will pay or yours will. Don't ever pay cash, that's why we have ins. Let the autobody handle the wrangling between ins. co's. That's how they get paid and they are very good at it. Then in a few weeks all you have to do is pick up your vette, no money at all out of your pocket.

In most jurisdictions, the Police will respond to injury accidents. Call them at the time, and report the accident, stating that your neck is sore from the whiplash. If they attend, the person who caused the accident will be charged. Their insurance company will bend over backwards to satisfy you and avoid an injury claim. I'm not advocating false injury claims, so if you're in no distress a day later, just keep the claim as your ace in the hole. You can abandon it at any time, but it helps to focus the insurance company on keeping you satisfied. Remember, you're the victim here. The purpose of insurance is to return you to the condition you were in 30 seconds before the dummy hit you.

Thanks for all the tips.
Took it in to the body shop today, all under the other drivers insurance. Hopefully by weeks end we will have a new front and rear installed, pending no other damage once the covers are off.
We have not settled with the insurance company nor signed anything and I am in the process of rounding up someone to do the "diminished value" report. I'm sure we'll be paying the medical bills but I will throw those back at the insurance company too. This whole thing has been a drag.........I guess I have to look at the bright side, there was a Comm. Edition in front of me this morning at the shop with the whole left side frt bumper and headlight ripped off.....anybody want a slightly damaged white C5 frt bumper for their game room wall??

So far I have assurances from the body shop and the insurance company that I can have the parts. One is going on the game room wall (eat your heart out Ecklers) and the other will go in the garage.
If I can't use both Imachad, your'e first on the list!

I know how your feeling 68! Same thing happend to my daily driver (though not as bad). Luckily they could repair my rear bumper without having to replace it. I hope everything gos smoothly at the body shop ( no pun intended). Give me a shout if you cant use both bumpers!

Cheers! :beer
