The replacement carb (E4ME) fuel filter is a Fram CG3389, but sure seems to be too long. I do not have a spring behind it, in fact it would not fit anyways. But I have a leak at the filter nut and not sure if it is due to trying to compress the filter itself due to it being (in my opinion) too long or not sealing at the fitting.

Has anyone had this problem? Is it the FRAM filter and I should just get the GM GF471 or WIX 33052???

Thanks,
Lanny

Thanks for the info...I will try getting one of them. Any ideas as to where I can find the spring that goes behind the filter and also the gasket that goes between the carb body and the inlet nut?

The gasket should have been in your carb kit (it is usually white plastic). Try a boneyard or ebay quadrajet for the spring.

God bless, Sensei
