Here is a picture of the front drivers side corner of my quadrajet. Am I correct in stating that this is the port that the vacuum advance for the distributor connects to. Also can someone tell me why this port appears to be blocked and should I try to unblock it. Thanks.

Yes, that is the port that goes to the vacuum advance on the distributor. What is your vacuum advance hooked up to now?

It may be coming off the manifold vacuum, which is actually better.

That’s where my Distributor hooks up. I would assume they blocked it because of some mod (different distributor) or something. I would unplug it and try it, if it doesn’t work you can always replug it without much trouble.

Good Luck

Jim

The advance on my distributor was connected to this port via a runner vacuum line. But since this port looks blocked it appears that I dont really have any spark advance right now.

That is the correct outlet for ported (off-idle) spark advance. Beats me why someone would plug it like that when there are plenty of vacuum caps available.

Suggest you try full vacuum advance as has been mentioned on another thread. This outlet will be on the choke (right) side of the carburetor, about halfway between the mounting bolts. Sometimes that little tube will come out, you may want to epoxy it and tap it in gently with a small hammer, careful not to peen the edges.
