Carb question

Hey Dracor, it's Chris's Carb Shop, Dayton Ohio. 937-890-0970. He will tell you he doesn't rebuild them he restores them. Everthing is gone through, and taken back to original specs so make sure of your GM numbers. The one I got was from a '79 L82. He is also willing to trade since he deals with all kinds of carbs. I don't remember what kind of intake you are running but you will need one that will accept a spread bore carb. That's how I spent my day. Taking a model 2101 performer intake off my pickup and switching out the Holley Street Dominator off the Vette. I need two bolts for the front of the Q-jet or it would have been running today. peace Bud

Sounds like what I need to do.
I have a QJet 1903 - 795 CFM carb on my 81.
Excellent carb, better than the Holley mistake the previous owner had on the old girl. I have a pretty massive flat spot as soon as I open the secondaries. If you stomp on it at the lights, she goes dead, then comes on strong.
The QJet made a difference from the Holley, more airflow 795 CFM vs 650 CFM. Now to get the tune right, it was better out of the box, but my carb guy changed a few things on the last tune and dyno run.
I am pretty happy with the figures for a stock donk. 330 lb/ft torque (rear wheels) @ 3300 rpm and 210 HP at 4200 rpm. Stock diff 2.87:1 plays with the figures. My carb guy said it goes like a cut cat!

I just need to get the flat spot out and she will be right.

Cheers

Tony

Edlebrock makes the new needles for the Q-Jets. I'll try to remember tonight after I'm home to see what I have in the carb now.
