Carb rebuild

BarryK said:
Thanks Tom!
I'll keep that info in case I need it. I'm really considering trying the rebuild myself but if i decide not to or screw it up and need someone to bail me out after I have it into 50 pieces :)

That's my problem. I bought my carb in a box all blown apart. I have had it tanked and it's clean but I'm not sure all of the pieces are there.

thanks for the encouragement Paul. i'm seriously considering it.

Can anyone recommend the best book on rebuilding the Holley carbs?

Take it from me...a beginner at best, rebuilding a holley is simple. Follow the instructions of the holley rebuild kit. I did my first last year on my 65 vette. It was a 4160 not a 4150 but it was simple and it works great now. Good luck. Bill

thanks Bill. With a few years experience I hope to make it up to beginner status :D

I have done carbs off my motorcycles in the past so I'll just consider this a larger version of the same and follow all the instuctions and take my time and as suggested take lots of digital pics in case I get confused.

Barry, here's some books you can try to find, if still available:

Holley Carburetor Handbook 4150 & 4160 by Mike Urich and HPBooks, 1980
ISBN No. 0-89586-047-3

Holley Carburetors and Manifolds by Mike Urich and Bill Fisher, 1987
ISBN No. 0-89586-433-9

Haynes Techbook Holley Carburetor Manual, 1993
ISBN No. 1-56392-069-7

Holley Rebuilding and Modifying, S-A Design Workbench Book, Jeff Williams, 1992
ISBN No. 0-9311472-27-X

Holley Service Guide No. 2 by Holley industries, Part No. 36-71.....Barry, I would call Holley industries in Bowling Green, KY and ask their folks how to order this book. Mine is pretty old and I am sure they have updated it.

You should also ask them for a "Holley Performance Parts Guide" This is the bible with all of the part nos. and specs for every carburetor they built.
Good luck and Go For It!!!!! :beer Also, it you need any copies of articles from books you can't find, let me know. My email is m.mbrennan@verizon.net.
