d, thank you for the calculations and the answers. you helped me solve a question about carb size. i was mistaken in thinking that because my Performer manifold splits the intake tract in two halves i wasn't feeding enough to the engine halves.
i have been enlightened......

I have a suggestion. Are you mechanically inclined? If so, swapping carbs is fairly easy. I would install that Holley and see what happens.

I think I'm un-mechanically inclined enough to want somebody to tackle a carb for me.What a wimp,huh?
