carpet installation

Waiting for the carpet to come in for an unrestored 66 coupe, it appears that the old carpet is glued in is this correct or is it just sealed from years of heat, the front is what I am asking about, Thank you for any healp mytoy

The carpet was glued. I pulled up what I could, soaked the balance of the carpet with weather strip solvent and then Simple Green full strength. I used a sharpened putty knife to help remove the glue after soaking.
