Mass backing is what came in the corvette from the factory......Poly backed is not as thick and I hear that it, (it,being the poly)wears out faster and the inside will be hotter and you will have more road noise. Of course you could install Dyna-Mat and use poly......I think the cost diff between the poly and the mass isnt worth it as the Dyna-Mat is expensive

i adgree with SoLow. And the best thing i did when i had my door panels off to do the inner and outer window seals i put some sound deading in them and the cabinet is alot better! now for behind the seats in the cargo area.
