I live in a non-emissions state and I am thinking of removing my catalytic converters on my 98 and want to know the pitfalls. Has anyone tried these (or other) oxygen sensor simulators? Did they (as promised) not cause any message center errors? Where are they attached?

Where can I get pipes that bolt in to replace? Or is it better to "punch out" the converters and reinstall? What would be a good choice as to the exhaust sytem that would follow? How about a used titanium zo6 system (at least I am guaranteed some weight savings)? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi there,
O2 sims will keep the check engine light off, but there is a cost.
Rear o2 sensors are about 25% of the fuel calculations for the engine.
If these are not correcting for the oxygen content in the exhaust, which they do not when they are sims, then the fuel calculations will be off.
This could create driving concerns with the engine.
Just be aware of it.

Thanks Specialist. What CAN be done? I'd love to pick up an extra 20 horses and loose the weight of the converters. Perhaps the aftermarket could respond with a product that addresses this additional problem.

Hi there,
There are a few aftermarket header systems that have converters with them.
They use the factory o2 sensors.
I have used FLP, Stainlessworks and others.
There have been a few 0420 and 0430 codes occasionally, but nothing that I would say"dont buy them". They all will add about 25 horses.
