I had installed drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads about a month ago and man I wish I'd have done the pads two years ago! I don't notice any real change in my stopping distance but brake dust is basically non existant! Before I couldn't drive a mile without brake dust being all over my chrome wheels. Now you can wipe your finger on the wheels and come up with dust, but you can't see it on there!

sweet! Mine are due soon, and now I know for sure! Thanks.

I agree, The ceramic pads stop just as well, without that annoying dust.

Yup, you sold me. I have been thinking about it for a while but now... Time to fork out the doe. Definitely next mod.

I think I'm changing over to the ceramics and slotted and drilled rotors. The blak dust drives me crazy! All the time you spend cleaning seems to go right out the window. I was a little concerned with the stopping distance. I don't do any road racing though. Which ones did you go with? I am checking out the G.M./Delco at this time.

I went with the G.M/Delco Ceramic pads. Actually I bought them from another forum member who never put them on. They were brand new and still wrapped up. Stopping distance seems fine to me.

My C4 has Raybestos slotted drilled and quiet stop ceramic pads all around. Minimal dust, exciting stopping power that improves with some heat. The EBC Greenstuff were pigpens.

Put ceramic on the Expedition with same results. Detractors claim less rotor life, to be determined....

Detractors also claim less pad life when one uses drilled and slotted rotors.
Oh well, they look too cool to have to worry about that.:cool

I went with Raybestos Quiet Stops and got the rotors from Sport Brakes!

I put Bosch ceramic pads on my ZR 1 just about a year ago. The first thing I noticed was NO BRAKE DUST. After this much time I have no complaints about braking ability or ware. I put 600 miles on the car on “Tahoe Tour 37” and still no visible brake dust on chrome wheels. Color me a very happy camper.:D

Recently purchased Morse ceramic pads at Auto Zone for $56.00 I was told that there are only three brake pad manufacturers in the USA and that Morse is the oem supplier to GM. Either way I'll let you all know how well they work for the money.

We purchased a set (front & back) from Mid-America. Haven't received them yet. Will let you know how they work out.

They work just fine.

I change the rotors with the pads too, they are cheap like $30 at autozone where I get the ceramic pads. I am changing the shocks this weekend and will be changing the rotors and pads while I am at it. I think I did the last change maybe 18 months ago and I drive the wheels off of my car every day. The pads probably still have a few thousand miles left on them I bet but I figure while I am at it might as well do those too.

Ceramic pads are a great mod, especially if you hate cleaning your car (well, I've yet to meet a Vette owner who'd admit that:D ). The truth is, they provide more than adequate stopping power for street or strip use. However, if you road race your car, you will notice much more "fade" using the ceramic pads over stock...so be careful.

Now think about this.......Brake dust means friction and friction means stopping.
Ceramic is not best for everyday driving..my .02!

I put on the GM/Delco Durastop ceramic pads about 10k miles back. I found you still get a fair amount of brake dust from them. Its just that the color of the dust is more grayish than black. If I had to quantify it I'd about 60% less dust.

What I feel is more important in noticing the dust is the color vette. Mine is millineum yellow and shows every little spec of dust, road grime, bug snot you name it. If you went with black or other darker colors you'll probably notice the dust less.

I do agree that they stop as well if not better than the stock pads, so you have nothing to lose by installing them. Just don't expect zero dust.

I really don't notice any difference to be honest and I am on the brakes all the time as my car is a daily driver and every road between my house and my office looks like it has been carpet bombed, errr I mean is under construction. The pads I took off still had 1/2 of the pad material left, I probably could have gotten another 10k out of them, but I already had the parts and wheels off to do the shocks so I replaced them anyway. I agree that the ceramic pads may not stop as well, but the difference is minimal and in my case not noticable. They seem to wear well and the added bonus of not getting the wheels totally filthy in 2 days is worth the $$ in my opinion.

When I installed my drilled/slotted rotors and newly painted AE Red calipers, I put on the GM Durastop Ceramic pads. (Can't see the pads, but I can't resist a chance to show off the new look)

I did notice a mushier feel right away, probably a bit less stopping power, but not enough to be a concern. I'm accustomed to it now and don't notice a thing. Wheels are definitely much cleaner, I say more than the 60% quoted earlier, maybe 90% cleaner.

really nice bling on the rotors. what kind are they? price?

thanks
