Chambered Dual Exhaust

Has anyone installed the chambered dual exhaust from Mid America (here's the link:

Any experience would be appreciated - is it hard to put on? Any issues hooking up to stock header?

havent installed one but talked to service rep at midamerica should be direct bolt on. still would like to know just how load they are

I put them on my 72 vert, stock L48 with manifolds, no headers. They fit good and bolted right up. They seem to hang a little lower than stock pipes but I have never hit anything with them. They sound good, maybe a little loud inside with the top up, which is never. They do not sound as good as sidepipes but close. I have a 4 post lift so it was an easy install. I did tack weld the joints so nothing would move. The hardest part was getting the tail pipe extensions centered in back.

When I was thinking about another exhaust I also looked up several topics about the Mid exhausts. I found alot of people saying the exhaust was not fitting correct and needed adjustment or even een compleet re-cut / fit. But this is several years ago so the problem could be solved by now!

They are fantastic ---- But.....

I have the Mid-Am Chambered System (complete stainless steel version ~~$1,200). I took it to my local exhaust/muffler guy to put on because IT IS NOT IN ANYWAY a do-it-yourself job if you don't have a welder and a bender. They fit about 85% as shipped, they will leak like a sive if you don't weld them plus you will need to fabricate some hangers/holders and "rebends" -- PLUS you will need to buy some header heat wrap fiber "tape" and wrap about 50% of the system so you don't start the underneath of the car on fire. This system is totally true dual exhaust and the heat shield's from the factory system in no way line up with the duals. Now the good news: They are totally the most awesome thing I did to the car --- it sounds like the motor has 500 hp!

I have chambered exhaust and love them as well. I did have an experienced custom exhaust shop install them as they do hang low and will need some custom hangars and welds.

The image on the website for the '81 doesn't seem to take into consideration that the '80-'82 doesn't have the xmember pass through holes.

True Duals

I was looking at the chambered for my 81 ..but went with the tru duals -Magnaflo from Corvette Central ... VERY EASY install to stock manifolds, sweet sound, just something to consider.
