I installed the Eckler's chambered dual exhaust on my '72 last night. I must admit it was a snap. They fit perfect. I decided to try this system since i didn't want to foot the bill for the sidepipes and this was advertised to sound like the factory sidepipes. They do and I am pleased.

Just thought I'd pass this along for anyone interested.

We also installed a chambered exhaust on Hubby's '74 roadster and loved it! Unfortunately, the person who bought it last January thought otherwise...he uninstalled it!:(

Love mine!

I rarely listen to the radio anymore...I like listening to the tunes of the engine & exhaust now! Any acceleration makes me :D.
Set off our first car alarm a few weeks ago.

Installed mine from mid-america last month. Went to the first cruise night here in town. I rolled in a I too set of alarms! How excellent, they were two late model Mustangs!! I was LMAO:cool

Wow!! :eek This sounds like some exaust!! Is this reversible? For instance, I got an all-stock Vette, could I put this on her and then easily change her back to stock exaust? Because I don't want to mess her up by making something irreversible. :( Thanks!! :)

TR

I have chambered also, bought it from company who makes it for MA and Eckler's. Sounds great and yes is reversable on my car. It seems to hurt the gas mileage, but I think my foot has something to do with that.

Mike

TR,

It is reversible, no mods are required to install.

I think you might have an issue with the converter though. I think you are required to keep it in NJ. The chambered system is true duals.

Maybe Heidi can shed some light on that, since see has a 78 as well.

I think I might need to keep the cats on here in NJ. But I'm not sure. :(

MA had a screaming deal on the chambered a few months back. The install was simple and staight forward (taking the old exhaust out required a few metal cutting blades and a saw-zaw)

The sound was AWESOME! :D :cool Just what the Dr ordered! Now that is the way a Vette should sound. I like Heidi don't listen to the stereo too much these days. The sound of power just gets the the heart pumping! Hey, my wife even likes it!

I noticed a good increase in power (since mine was original and damaged) and since I am now exempt for emmisions, I don't have to worry about cats.

Gotta love 'em!

Wow, I thought I was the only one. I have a great CD player and good speakers. I don't ever use it. The sound of the sidepipes roaring is the best music I've ever heard. I can't get enough.:Steer
Good Luck with your exhaust.:D Go For It! :upthumbs

I really miss my chambered exhaust:(, of course I miss the Vette that the exhaust is installed on even more:cry. While it was still mine that chambered system was awesome though. Mine was the Mid-America one as and it rocked!

If it came with them the Federal law requires you to have them. The question is then of enforcement. If you have an emission inspection requirement you definitely don't want to take them off. Otherwise it is very unlikely that you will be found out if you remove them.

I'm pretty sure I have to go pass emissions. Only '74s and older don't here, I believe. :( Oh well, I guess chambered exaust is out of my reach.

TR,

I don't think you remove the cats when installing a chambered exhaust, if that's your concern.

Elaine

Oh really? Then what would be the problem with chambered exaust and emissions? :confused

TR,

The system that I installed does not allow for the use of cats. The chambered section extends from the forward crossmember all the way to just forward of the rear kickup.

Hmmm..that's what I thought it would be like.

TR,

Chambered exhaust is a true dual set up, otherwise what's the point. In your case you have a 2-1-2 setup. If you were to put true duals on, though it doesn't appear this would work with chambered exhaust, you could put in dual cats (that's what I did) but technically you wouldn't comply with emissions. The Federal laws require you to put on what came from the factory. Could you get away with it? Possibly, if the person did not know the car and just looked and saw the cats. But getting by one year would not guarantee that you would be able to sneak it by the next year.

If my car were subject to emission inspections, which it is not, I would put a high flow cat on with your choice of performance mufflers. The high flow cat would probably be less restrictive than what is on your car now and would be an improvement. The nufflers definitely would be.

Bob

Well I'm not really looking to get extra power out of her, which I assume the high flow cats are for. I just like the sound of pure muscle. :) And putting on performance mufflers would be a good idea, too.
