Changing out C4 parking brake shoes

One of my winter projects is to change the parking brake shoes on Goldfinger...that's my 85 vette. Boy I had no idea that it would be such a chore! I've got about 3 hours in it now and haven't managed to get the spring clips back on. You talk about a *****! If any of you guys have some useful tips...they'd be appreciated. I have a manual and plenty of tools. At this clip it might take me all winter to change these rascals out. Advice???
