Ok, need to vent: who on this 3rd rock of the sun decided to put sparky #2 right above the motor mount ? :crazy :mad

And No 4 isnt any easier to get to. I can get the wrench on it but cant move the wrench, because there is no room between the exhaust pipe and the motor mount. ;shrug :mad

All while laying under the car, front on jack stands.. WTF?

I still have a shield above the two passenger side front spark plugs, but it wiggles around, do i need to take that off before i can get to them (From above??). ;help

I didnt have that on the driver side and was able to get to the rear 2, both sides from the bottom, and the driver side front 2 from the top, but the passenger side top doesnt even look like i can get to anything, even without the shield (not that i can get that off either).

UNREAL..

Stephan,

The #1,3,2,4 plugs can be removed easily from above with a ratchet extension on your plug tool. I would avoid the plug sockets with swivels on them. They can pivot, and lead to snapping the insulators as you have found out already. A straight socket with a 6" extension should do it.
The #5,7,6,8 plugs are best accessed from under the car. Plenty of room under there up the side of the engine.
No need to remove the shield, there's a straight line path to the #4 plug from the side.

Thanks Pete..

I just got them replaced.. Just needed a hint in the right direction: Called my brother in law Bob, who's a mechanic. He used to replace them for me then. And it's real simple, eh?

Between his memory and your notes i got them done !

Just stuff your hands down the room next to the AC Pump and use an extension. Get the piping sqooshed out of the way and feel your way to the spark plug between the header and the bottom parts. What a pita.. But, i got them all done. Now, i'll pulll the ECM fuse, for a quick reset and let it off the stands and see if it did the trick. I shall report back in the other thread..

Re the pivot: When i hold the head of the wrench straight it worked fine, problem is-was that thats the only one that had a #16 spark plug socket, which matched the spark plugs. Apparently Euro ones have a 17 or a 19 head. Ie. are bigger.. Werd.
3 out of 8 broken.... Yoikes.. I can laugh now. :D

Thanks again for the quick response it helped !!

:w
