Am repainting my '81 and am undecided on the color. Original is Charcoal Gray (84) but I also like the Maroon metallic (79). Interior is silver gray (152).

Any thoughts?

If you don't mind the original color, then why not stick with it? That way if you ever sell it it's closer to original, which is what people seem to prefer.

Where are you getting it painted by the way? I used to live near you and only found one shop that would touch 'vettes, but they wanted $5,000!!

I'd go with the charcoal.....it'll go with the interior better :thumb

^^ i conquor, if your interior was white or somthing of the sort it would be a better contrast for the maroon.

Chuck,

I understand your indecision. It is tough to decide, isn't it? What helped me decide was the fact that the original engine in my Vette has been restored and re-installed on the Vette. Otherwise, I would have painted mine Lexus Silver...:thumb

And I got that idea when I saw an L81 in the original silver color. There aren't many in that color combination, but it surely looks cool in Silver interior and exterior.

Burgundy is a pretty color as well, but like others have said, it could clash with the silver interior; however, perhaps it could work with a custom-accent of the seats or something. I don't know, it seems a little hard to visualize.

At the end, you are the one that have to be happy with it. We're all in here a weird combination of NCRSism with visions of modified dreams...:L..or perhaps closet-modifiers or closet-NCRS'ing...;LOL

Good luck on your decision.
