I was out to the Barrett-Jackson showroom in Scottsdale today and ran across this '58. What a beauty.

They buy and sell cars too !!!

Barrett-Jackson and all the auction companies for that matter , are licenced car dealers and therefore do buy and sell cars. Many auctions have a car that is a 'good' buy but no one it the audience that day so they will buy the car and put it in inventory for a later auction or in the showroom.

Tom, will you be in town for the big auction January 12-15? I will be over Wed thru Saturday. What a show. Everyone should see it at least once in their life.

Wayne,

Actually it wasn't all that lonely. It was sitting right next to a C12 and a '57 Bel Air Fuelie. They told me it was priced to sell but I didn't ask.

Jim,

I wish I could have stayed longer but 2 weeks was my limit this trip. We just got home a couple hours ago. I would like to attend the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction someday. I have gone to the Fall Kruse at Auburn for many years and it is always a sight to see. Even more so now that Dean Kruse is the owner of the company and auction park again.

I think I'll get some sleep. We drive the trip from AZ to Ohio in 2 days each way and it kind of wears you out a little. :L

Let me know next time, i'll by the beer

January 10 to 20 each year in Scottsdale is a 10 day period that you must see at least once in your lifetime.

I hear Auburn is also great, but more humidity !!

With 5 major auctions, The Pavillion Cruise and all the 'car shops' and backyard parties, Scottsdale is 'The Place' in January. And if you don't like cars, the people watching is great........especially the gals!!

When I was the Viper Plant Manager before I retired in 2001, Craig Jackson was one of my best Viper customers; he sent me a VIP Bidder package every year, and I went to B-J several times - you have to experience it to believe it:cool :eek :beer :bang

Jan 21-25, 2004 are the dates!!

My mistake, the dates this year are Jan 21-25, 2004 for Barrett-Jackson. The RM and Russo-Steele auctions are in the evenings, Jan 23-24.

The Silver Auction is Jan 16-19, and the 1000 car Kruse Auction is Jan 28- Feb. 1.

Check each companys web site for up to the minute details.

Great color !!

Charcoal was a 1/2 year color as black was re-introduced late in production . It was the 3rd most popular color however, with 1631 cars painted behind Snowcrest white with 2477 and Silver blue with 2006 respectively.

Hi Tom,
I saved this from ebay a while back. I just love the color, looks fabulous. I think this color was 58 only and short lived that year. Hard to understand.

Thanks. It sure is a beatuty. Here is the link to the B-J listing on the one I saw. A lot of money but it's done right.
