I just bought a beautitful 6-speed coupe. When I let the clutch out slowly going from 1st to 2nd(and sometimes from 2nd to 3rd)I hear a clattering or chatter(or rattle) Is this normal?

The tech at the dealer did not seem to kinow.

Thanks very much.

Nope, but someday.
Neutral gear rattle

Hi there,
This is a neutral gear rattle, which is talked about in your owners video, included with your owners portfolio.
It is completely normal.
Besttoyou, and enjoy your ride, c4c5:hb

I noticed the noise also when I purchased my 2000 back in Feb. The first owner didn't know what it was and let me know about it before I bought it. When I finally got it home and started playing with it, it sound normal to me. I've since changed out the stock shifter ( which is not very good) and replaced it with the new Hurst shifter. Noise is no longer a problem anymore. :D There are plenty of shifters to choose from out there, its just a matter of how much do you want to spend.
