Hi everyone! I will try to describe the problem as best I can and will welcome any thought/comments any of you may have!
I am talking about a 1960 Corvette, 283 - 4 speed. Basically entirely stock. Recently had the frame replaced and engine rebuilt. The car starts/runs great (engine wise)
When first started and driven, the clutch is very smooth (in first gear - and all gears). The problem is after the car is warm (or should I say clutch/trans), I consistantly get a chatter ranging from slight to VIOLENT - where the entire cars shaked way beyond a typical clutch chatter. Once it smooths out - all subsequent gears are fine.
Pulled the trans out over weekend an inspected the bell housing, fly wheel, pressure plate, clutch disk and all seem to "look" fine. The U-joints were a little worn and will be replaced.
Any additional items anyone can think of that could cause this? Motor mounts? Differential?
Thanks in advance for your repleis!
Bob
I was looking at other threads and notices a pic of a pressure plate in another topic. My pressure plate only has 3 fingers on it rather than - how do I say it - fingers all the way around. Can this be an issure??
