I bought a simple on/off switch and some 16 gauge wire for $3.00.

Three wires go through the rear firewall under the decklid to the antenna (driver's side). I tapped into the pink wire with two 6 foot wires. Ran those under the carpet (pulls out easy) and under the seat.

Drilled a small hole in the front of the driver's seat frame for the switch. I then simply hooked up the wires to the switch and it's basically done. Took about 20 minutes. And best of all it was cheap.

It's out of sight but in easy reach. Should extend the life of your antenna too by keeping it down until actually needed.

thanks!!

but I probably shoulda just bought the Mid America kit. :duh

A definite add-on, good thinking.

I did the same with mine when I swapped stereos, but I only ran the wire to the back of the radio and interrupt the wire from the radio to the relay. Switch is mounted under the dash on one of the screws for the diagnostic connector. I kind of like your location too though.

I bought a rocker switch similar to the one that controls the mirrors and placed it on the console opposite the mirror switch so it now looks "balanced". The wires were run to the stereo due to the close proximity and economics. I then added a similar switch between them to operate the fans...so now they are all within immediate reach without having to reach anywhere and not having to avert my eyes from the road while reaching.

My fan switch is under the drivers dash also, but more because the previous owner had it there. I rewired it though because he had 10 gauge wire running directly to the fans, I ran 18 gauge wire to the ground of the relay. Much easier and cleaner.
