It is for a 1986 Chevy Corvette Twin Turbo Project Car with no reserve...

I've been looking at it, and if I can get the money together I'm going to bid on it. It holiday season, so money is very tight, but I sold my Daytona and looking for a new project. The car is located only a few hours drive away. So maybe and if so I'm going to need a lot of help. I'm a C3 guy and don't know a thing about C4s.

Whoa, I had to turn my speakers off, as I swear that dog was barking at me! What a conveluted mess. You would think they would have at least tried to make the hood hole look symetric. Yikes. no doubt his wife wants to see it go away for Christmas.

That car should be the poster child for:

Just say NO to Bubba! He is not a real mechanic. He will promise you 600 hp, then leave you with a Corvette shaped turd in the driveway that can't develop 6 hp!

What my wife wants most for Christmas is for someone else to own this vehicle. So, someone will be getting a twin turbo vette for Christmas

but this is interesting... I have heard of pearlescent paint but this :confused

There is also a light coat if overspray on the paint from the neighbor painting his house,

Still, a very interesting "project car" I would imagine that should it go together, it would be one heck of a ride :eek

You know what is scary, if you look at that engine pic, there are no wires...so he either unplugged them, or took a pair of dykes to it and hacked them out...ouch!

it might have some future potential if someone put some TLC into it but right now it just looks like a trashed vette.

Basically what it looks like is the cheapest C4 (probably an 84) with some seats thrown in, wrong wheels, an engine that could never work in a million years and probable isn't even fitted, just dropped in for effect, a ridiculous ancient twin turbo conversion (probably worked in a 4x4 with its totally different engine bay also just think what the heat from those turbos would do to the hood if they worked!)

Also I presume it would be real easy to get an emissions exemption for a carburettor - equipped C4!

We get those sorts of cars in the UK too - the promise of a cheap Ferrari eater at a bargain price which in reality is just a collection of incompatiable junkyard parts that you'd have trouble to get $100 for if you sold them collectively.

These "unfinished projects" are so easy to complete, that's why everyone's selling them!

What that guy's wife really wants for Christmas is the money from another one of her husband's useless scams!

I have sent a few E mails to the seller for more information about this car. The engine was installed, but that is about as far as it got.
The engine wiring has not been do
the carb is just a stock carb and will need to be updated
P/S pump bracakets need to be made
drive line installed
exhuast from turbos fabed( new pipes for under car are there)
interior needs work
Turbo oil lines need to be plumbed
W/S wiper motor installed
fix hood
W/S needs replacing

Having build turbo cars before I know that plumbing the turbos need drian line to the oil pan, so the motor will need to be pulled again. Going back to a carb is going to be more of a wiring problem than anything else due to the computer. This is an interesting project, but I think I'm going to pass myself. Mostly becuase of the wiring and computer stuff. I've never done much of C4s.

Wise decision to pass on the "project"

Biggest problem as I see it is the fact that a C4 could never be emissions legal in the USA unless next time there's a presidential election you vote for a complete "car nut!"

The twin turbos would have to go TPI units can be had reasonably cheap along with wire harnesses on E-bay, the Corvette fuel rails are the expensive (and desirable) part.
A Corvette re-cycler near me sells rebuildables without engine/trans and the proper wheels for $3950 regularly
so if the selling price doesn't go to high it may be OK

Unforyuantely I know what it's like to be full of enthusiasm for a "dream" (e.g. a car project) and find out, usually after spending money, that the dream cannot be realised.

Look how this one goes downhill: first you may think the car's a 91 up model, then you see it has a cr*p interior, then you see pix from the front which show the ruined hood, then you just know it's gonna be a pig to get running (wait for the second coming of Christ for some help) and even then (I keep going on about this because it's obvious to me, and I don't even live in the USA) it's got a carb so it can't be legal in any state. All this from just the ebay ad, imagine seeing it in the flesh!

Still, not all projects are unsuccessful, especially if you let good taste and restraint be your guide:

You know, last year at Carlisle, one of the things Reeves Callaway said makes a car successful (any car inhis words) is, tasteful design - I think you can buy this and that and graft, tape, rivet, and staple to your hears content but what he was saying is, his graceful designs will stand the test of time (while being functional)

C5 folks are Baddd at this (like in the pic) I don;t know if that cause there is more out there for them or what, but...


re: legality of that car - Florida, and other states such as Michigan and parts of VA may offer exception to having a carb on the car - I know of a Big Block in Maryland w/ a carb - it gets inspected once when new, and that is it :eek

I guess things can slip past :confused

Its amazing how someone can manage to slur two of the greatest options to come on a corvette. How anyone can even manage to use the description ZR1 or Twin turbo with that that that thing is beyond me.

Maybe the ZR1 Net should put up a bounty to get the emblem of the bumper of that car.
