I have a 90 L i bought last Sept (55000 miles). The owner of the car put 4000 miles on the car in 12 years, he had a dealer maintain the car once a year. When he had the car checked out in Aug of last year they replaced the computer located by the master cylinder and battery. I drove the car from Penn to GA and the Temp gauge was reading high oil temp normal. The car is only driven on occasions. When I got home took the car a local garage and they replaced the radiator, tsat 195 degree, and hoses and added a 7 ohm resistor to the water temp sending wire for the analog gauge. 3 months ago they replaced the intake and valve cover gaskets (leaking oil).
Question. the car now has 57600 miles on it. I drove it to work today 8 am in Atlanta rush hr traffic 75 miles with a/c on 84 degrees outside with no problems. When I drove the car home 6 pm after about 50 miles the check gauges light came on. All of the analog gauges where normal and showed 3/4 of a tank of fuel. The light stayed on the rest of the way home with the gauges reading normal. Car was at 60 mph for the last 20 miles with a/c on 96 degrees outside. When I got home used an infrared thermometer and took a reading at the t-stat housing with the motor running and got a reading of 210 degrees one fan running a/c off.
At no time did the check engine light come on, nor did the car act up.
Please give me some advise as to what is wrong and how can i read the computer sensor readings that is causing the light to come on.
Thanks in advance Bob
