We survived Hurricane Chalie! No real damage to the house. No damage to the car.

Please pray for the less fortunate. Many lives lost. Billions in property damage.

No electricty, no drinking water.

Will DEFINITELY keep those folks in our thoughts and prayers. I'm so glad ya'll are okay.

Thanks for checking in.
I know lots of folks were not as fortunate.
Im still passing power trucks and clean up crews that are in route.
Stay safe!

Glad you are ok - Any news of damage from the Sebring area. My mother in law lives there and the phone service has been off and on. She did say they were out of electricity and will be for a few days - Thanks

No news from Sebring yet. I'll keep my ear to the radio and let you know. Punta Gorda got hit pretty bad. Lots of manufactured housing down there.

You know the old joke:
What does a hurricane and a red neck devorce have in common.....

In both cases someone is going to lose a trailer.

Please forgive me for the levity this is a devastating situation we have here but trying to find some humor is better than what I want to do and that is to cry.

. . . it'd be OK to cry. . . it might even help you feel better.
Thinking of you all. . .

Thanks for the response. The jokes are fine - that's what it takes to get through the hard times.
I spoke to her a little while ago. She's on the eight floor of a retirement condo. The roof has a small leak but they have food and health care but probably won't have power for a week. The lack of a/c is the biggest problem now.
Best of luck

I think not having A/C is the worst part. 92 degrees and 100 percent humidity makes it very hard to sleep. You lay there stuck to the sheet with sweat running into your ears. No electricy = no fans either.

I grew up in Fl. durring the 50's and 60's with no A/C but we did have fans to move the air around a little bit.
I guess i've grown spoiled and soft in my old age.

Roadapple,

Our hearts go out to you. If you can bear an experience like Charley and still keep a sense of humor, you're doing a lot better than a lot of folks would be under similar circumstances. Thanks for posting in and letting us know you're okay.
