chip tune. '91 auto.... :confused

so... I had a 383, stock valve train/heads/cam. - now adding a SR, AFR190cc heads, 219/219 cam shaft from lingenfelter, and 1.6rr... stock exhaust, still. am going with 30lb Bosch 3's after talking with John at FICinjectors today.



My Question is: how do I go about retuning the pcm?

what do I need to do this, steps, links, pictures?, detailed files! - lolol, seriously though if anyone has any information though on how to tune one of these things I would love to hear it. thanks guys, and thanks again for letting me post.

Using the Tunerpro tuning program you change the injector size to 30lb on your stock program then
you run and datalog under different driving conditions to see what engine is doing regarding fuel and spark
Then you make adjustments to the tune until tune is right.
Steep learning curve, not something you are going to learn in 10 min and because every engine combo is different
there is no "Tuning for Dummies " book to tell you what exactly to do.
Best to datalog then put results up online so guys can advise you what adjustment to make

yea.. im thinking of buying that tool there, and then tunerproRT with it. apparently with that, I can in realtime emulate a chip and bin file for the computer, datalog it and change the bin file while im driving the car and check new chip settings to see how it works. when I'm finished I save the emulated bin file, burn it to a chip and be done with it....

? what do you think sound like a good idea? lol

is datamaster any better than tunerproRT? im not familiar with either software.

dumb question, but are these the only two real settings your adjusting while your tuning the car?

Stock program allows you to adjust way more but those 2 are the primary ones
Download TP ( free ) and install it.
When you open it up you will see every parameter you can fiddle with

ok I finally TunerProRT and have done enough to open the program. and then that APU1 unit coming from moates... ordered it friday.
maybe I will get lucky and open up / datalog it after changing out the injectors and all I need to do is change the Injector size in the program... not counting on it but maybe.


- I have one question, what is this that I hear about "volumetric efficiency" BLM's. I haven't actually gotten any data off my car yet so I am a little confused on the subject. is that something that after changing heads intake and cam I will have to tune for too? or will the engine compensate by using RPM's X MAP data? or use the lean reach data from 02 sensor for?

Go spend some time at ThirdGen.org. Look up the DIY Prom forum.They have stickies on Tuning 101. Read that first before starting off. The forumis an excellent source of information and lots of helpful/knowledgeable people.
