chrome valve covers

My # matching 427 BB had Chrome Valve covers placed in it ( correct style) and instead of buying new ones, can I convert these to Orange painted correct style?

Don't see why you couldn't glass bead the covers to roughen up the surface to get a little "tooth" for paint. What year BB...I assume 65-67? or maybe 71ish-74? 68- mid71 were flash chrome from the factory. Chuck

My '66 427 has chromed valve covers and I had planned to sandblast and paint them.
