Claybar - how long?

Thanks to everyone, especially Guy, for the tips on how to use a clay bar. I haven't had to clay mine yet, but I may do the saran wrap test just to make sure. In any event, I thought this might be a grueling process, but it doesn't sound that bad. -John

It's about time for me to do it again. I have tried to do mine about every 6 months. This weekend might be the ideal time to do it. Clay bar, and then the Zaino.

John,

I could tell just with my fingers and I never worked on an area larger than a t-top at one time. The big key is to keep spraying the area with that carwash/water solution on the Zaino site as you rub.

As said before, if you drop the bar on the ground - throw it away or face disaster.

Good luck.

Clay Bar

It's easier to use the whole bar than to use small pieces. As you are rubbing out the paint, the bar will squash out and get thinner. Just knead it back into shape, and go back to rubbing. It goes pretty fast . . . just keep it moist and DON'T DROP IT! Fortunately, it sticks to your hand pretty good. It did a good job on my acrylic top, too! Feels like silk when you're done. Really good stuff!

I bought this kit because I didn't have any of their products and pretty much needed everything. I clay barred, then applied 3 coats of the Z5 swirl reducer with the ZFX accelerator additive. I have lots of swirl marks and a terrible scratch on the trunk lid (thanks to some jackass at work). The good news is the scratch has almost disappeared! :eek In between coats I used the Z6 enhancer spray.

I've only been able to apply one coat at a time due to basically being one handed (my other hand being so weak from surgery) but it looks fantastic!

Once the swirl marks are taken care of, I'll swap to the Z2 for clear coated finishes.

I'm sold!
