Orange Peel

Mike,
I don't believe that it will. Normally 'orange peel' can not be felt. But you could try claying and then a 'swirl remover', like Zaino Z-5

Clay will not remove orange peel; orange peel is normal when a paint job is fresh, but it requires color sanding to remove it.

Dawn is simply a degreaser. If you take care of the trim pieces after washing you should have no problems.

So is Dawn better then the Quick Detailing mist that you can buy?

No, Dawn is a degreaser, used to clean things. The detailing sprays are designed to enhance the paint's finish and usually consist of a blend of various polymers an such.

I've heard the term before but still don't know what it is ;shrug. What is 'Orange Peel'?

Orange peel is paint that is not totally smooth , but has a little ripple in the finish, kind of like the peel of an orange. Most finishes have a little orange peel unless wet sanded smooth after the clear coat. Excessive orange peel is caused by applying the paint too heavy without enough thinner.

I you look at the side of your C5 at an angle (not straight on), you'll see the surface looking like "orange peel". My '01 has it and I don't believe any home type remedies can fix this short of wet sanding. I also think the orange peel is beneath the clear coat (please correct me if I'm wrong). See any number of new C6s and you will probably see some.
