What is the consensus on what to use to clean the fine GM vinyl parts (non leather). I'm sure we don't want to use full blown Armor All, right ?? OK to spray some light silicone on weather strip stuff?

thoughts appreciated, Ted

I don't use Armour All. & Never on the Dash because of Glare. If the vinyl is dirty...use some diluted fantastic or straight if its bad. If your looking to dress up the vinyl/rubber using silicoone on anyhing in the interior invites dirt collection...and the silicone gets all over the place. If its an occasion...prior to a show..I will hit my interior with rag lightly coated with a dressing like STP Son of a Gun ...but as a rule I don't like using the stuff to often inside...it seems to get everywhere you don't want it.....steering wheel...brake pedal...etc.
As far as preserving weather stripping...products like Armoural actually dry out the rubber. Silicone is good ... best stuff is actually big $$$
stuff called KRYTOX ...which is a flourinated grease . Sells for $34 bucks for a 2oz tube....but is considered the best preservative for rubber. With a small quantity like that it goes a long way...& just for weatherstripping. Ive seen Krytox at www.ecklers.com part # A2524.....also the silicone alternative is there at half the price..part #35797. Have I ever used Krytox??? What are you kidding.....$34 bucks for a little tube.....I....... I........don't know maybe when I have the weatherstripping replaced on my 87... for now I'll spring for the $15 for the silicone.

Ted,

My favorite product for non-leather items is 303 Aerospace Protectant. I like the non-slick look it gives plus the protection against UV rays makes it even better.
