Maybe this shot shows them better, it was a cloudy day...

WHOA! Man that think looks mean! Is it really going to be for auto-X? Are you putting the bumpers back on? That silver looks great, good job!

Ooooh...mean, I like that descriptor. Strike fear into the hearts of competitors.

Yes, it's just for autocrossing, and time trial and lapping events on road courses.

No bumpers, and no bumper mounting brackets. I tried to loose weight where ever the rules would allow. If you look close, you can see all the holes for the bumpers have been filled, and the rear valance was smoothed out.

I know what you mean about losing weight, every ounce counts. I'm going street/strip so I'll leave the bumpers. Yours looks good that way though. Kind of cobra-ish. I think it wouldn't have been as aggressive/good looking without the black stripe accenting it. Some people have more of a knack for that than others. Yes, I think it should strike fear! Good luck racing and keep it on the track!

Very Nice :o)

Who Made the hood on your car If I may ask. For some reason it looks a bit taller than others?

Thanks for the pictures. I purchased the buckets and covers from Gulstrand in LA. How did you secure the covers? Looks like a hinge in front. What's holding it down in the back? The parts manager from Gulstrand suggested Zues (?) fastners but I'm not sure where to get them.

Thanks,

Dzus fasteners are available from Summit, however that's not what I used. You are correct about the hinge in the front, but the rear of the covers are secured with stainless 1/4-20" bolts. On the left side, the bolt screws into an threaded insert that is pressed into the body, however, on the right side the insert spun free in the hole, so I had to pull it out and drill straight through the steel support underneath, and use a longer bolt with a nut. The threaded insert would have worked better had I bonded them in the glass, rather than just relying on the press-fit.

Dzus fittings would probably work, however, I chose not to go that way because dzus fittings are spring-loaded, and I wanted to be able to control how much pressure was applied to the plexglass covers. I don't know how good your covers are, but mine were not perfectly molded to sit flat on the fiberglass, and I didn't want them to crack. I also used a rubber grommet between the plexi and fiberglass to help control vibrations.

I suggest looking at some old racecars that have these headlights to help give you ideas.

Oh, the hood is a long style L-88 design from Eckler's, and the scoop height is the same as an orginal L-88 hood. That it is longer may make it look higher.

Wow that thing looks awesome, great colors too.i really like the look of those style headlights.
