Have a clicking noise when driving my 1993. When puting my foot slightly on the brake pedal it goes away:eyerole It all looks to be ok, have new discs fitted and new pads. Sounds to be frome the drivers side forward but hard to tell. Any ideas?

Regards,
Steve

I would check the wheel bearings and make sure nothing is rubbing on around the antilock brake wheel sensor and sprocket.

I checked the bearing with lifting up the car and it is as thight as it can be. I check the sensor tomorrow but the strange thing is that when i put my foot to the brake pedal slightly it stops.

Did you have this noise before you did the brake work?

How long since the brakes were done?

How many miles since the brakes were done?

Were the rotors drilled or slotted that you put on ?

If this noise is new to the car since the brake job then check every thing you did over again.

Did you use the anti rattle grease that comes with the pads.?

brake pad spring out of place..broken off or no rattle jelly. Just a pad flopping around. Due to get worse as the pad wears down.

Brakes done 500 miles ago

They are drilled and slotted

Noise before replacing

Did not come with grease :-(

I think you may have an ABS sensor that is making the noise. You might try taking the car to a deserted area and getting up to 40 or 50 MPH and stand in the brakes until the ABS activates. What May be happening is from a lack of use a ABS sensor in hanging up.

Since this was happening before the brake change I don't think the lack of a grease/jelly is the problem but more information on why it was not with the new pads would be informative.

Also you might want to check with the parts store were you bought the pads and see if it is normal not to get the anti rattle grease/Jelly with the pads. I have never seen disk brake pads that did not come with it. Having not done brakes on anything newer than 10 years they may now have eliminated this step but I would think as old as our cars are it should still be done.

With only 500 miles on the brakes and rotors you might look to see if there is a burr on one of the slots or holes that is touching the pad. On these brakes the pads are touching the rotor just slightly when the brakes are not on and a burr would then click the pad when rotating.

Are the anti- rattle clips installed on the pads?
