Cloth interior...how popular a (non) option?

I've had my red '88 coupe now for about eight years. My car is red with a black cloth interior. I purchased the car from the original owner and have the window sticker which confirms that this is how the car came from the factory. In going to shows and looking at ads for other C4s, I've noticed that most are equipped with leather.

I find this rather unusual as my car has other options such as electronic thermostat control and both tops. Are there any records that would tell me how popular (or unpopular) a cloth interior is?

I've not seen many with cloth interior. I have seen several 85's for sale with cloth interiors.

Wanna' trade cloth for leather? Leather is too hot. Set the A/C on snow, your backside still swelters...

My Jimmy has leather too. No thanks...

Leather was considered an option and not a cheap one.The cloth would be standard. I would guess that your window sticker only lists the color of the seats. When I was looking for a corvette I saw a few with cloth seats.

There does seem to be a "CULT" of leather haters out there. Too hot in summer and cold in winter.
Recently a pair of grey cloth went on ebay and I almost bid myself...but they weren't the Cloth SPORT seats, which look way more "techy" so I passed.
I wish there was enough of a market to have THOSE reproduced:w

I checked out the build sheet. They list the interior code as "19C"...my guess being that 19 is the code for black with the "C" designation for cloth???

Thanks vetteoz....an interesting stat!!!
Hi all, My '88 has cloth. I'm quite happy with that but my preference was always leather. If the guys are saying leather is not comfortable I'm surprised but bow to their vette experience. My '77 vette had leather but it wasn't comfortable in other ways. I was told that cloth was the OPTION. Wouldn't the figures from Vetteoz bear that out, strange as it may seem. Roger.

Cloth was base
You had to tick AQ9 or AR9 on the order form to get the leather option which obviously most did.

Base leather seats on a 90 are listed as a $425 cost
sport leather was $1050 cost

My wife is no fan of leather either. Which, was one reason my TA has cloth. :chuckle

I've found cloth seat covers for 1979-1982 Vettes- but they are PRICEY.

It just so happens that I was reading the Corvette Black Book night before last and found out that my 93 is 1 of 426 with the cloth seats . That was the last year where they were the base seats.

So MY vette IS special!! ;LOL

Hi all, I don't know whether mine is the "sport" or "standard" cloth seat. They look a bit Ricaro-ish, was there a cloth option for style, anyone know the difference ? Thanks. Roger.

Someone correct me if I am wrong (which happens a lot) but I believe that the "sport" seats had controls for lumbar, etc. toward the front of the bottom seat bolsters. Standard seats, which I have, simply offer front, back, and tilt controls located on the console...at least in my '88.
