When I am up at cruising speed and I let off the gas for a few seconds and then accelerate again I am getting a clunk. Is this a worn U joit or can something else be wrong?

I have the same prob...I've been told it might be anything from U-Joints to rear diff probs. Mine seem to happen mostly when going from reverse to drive(also on the fly like yours). Makes my mean-machine seem like a clunker in parking lots while people glare on, Uggghhh. Bushing wear might be an issue as I've read incidents of rear diff mounts, i think, being loose and causing excessive movement and noise.

Probably a U-joint.

Mine would have a hard clank when i shifted into D and when i took off, this turned out to be the driveshaft joint.
