I need some basic help with adjusting the clutch on a 70 LT1 with M21. Diagrams or online resource would be a plus.

Just make sure you keep a certain amount of throw out bearing play........ (around 3/4 of an inch) in play........ or you will ruin the throw out bearing. You don't want it riding on the pressure plate all the time or it will wipe out the throw out bearing.

The clutch let's out really late and I am having problems downshifting from 3rd to snd to first when the car is cold.

The pushrod from the pedal to the top arm on the Z-bar has the adjustment; set it so you have 1" of pedal free play between the "up against the bumper" position to the point where you feel resistance when you push it in.

....if you pop the hood and look under the master cylinder, you'll see the clutch pushrod JohnZ is talking about. When I replaced my clutch a while back I adjusted mine most of the way "out" (to the end of the pushrod). It's a relatively easy adjustment to perform.
