Hey all,

I have the McLeod dual disc with an adjustable clutch master cylinder. It's run fine for about 2K miles now, but recently it has started to engage just a little with the pedal all the way depressed. It'll only do it if you rev the engine pretty hard. Obviously this isn't good. I had the clutch installed, since I didn't have the time or tools to do it myself. I am fairly mechanically inclined, though.

I have a few questions. Do I have a major problem here or is this just a case of adjusting the clutch? If it's just a clutch adjustment, does anyone know the procedure for it? Also, the clutch seems to take a lot of travel before the car actually starts rolling. I kind of assumed that was normal for a dual disc clutch, since the installer test drove it and didn't seem to think anything was wrong. Out of curiosity, is that the norm?

TIA guys!:beer

I'm Confused

I don't know about a hydraulic adjustment but, you say it's starting to engage with the pedal all the way down to the floor, but in the next paragraph, you say that it travels quite a distance before it engages. Doesn't make sense, normally, the further you push the pedal down, the further the disc is from the flywheel. What am I missing here?

Sorry, should have been clearer. It travels quite a distance to start the car rolling. The engagement problem, which only seems to happen right now when I rev the engine, is just enough to feel a pull.;)

Not good, IMO, since it could be spinning one disc and not the other. This is my first experience with dual disc clutches, though, so I'm open to any suggestions.

Sleepie,
We have a mutual friend currently on deployment in Iraq who tells me your vert has 400+RWHP.

:_rock Nice! I'd be interesting in hearing what mods you've made to get it up there. Sorry about the thread-jacking. PM me with the answer, if you'd like.

Thanks!

Before, I'd start adjusting, I'd bleed the hydraulics. If you verify there's no air in the system and the clutch is still not fully releasing, then I'd do an adjustment.

I'll try bleeding the system. If that doesn't work, does anyone know the procedure to adjust the clutch?

I've posted over there, but he hasn't responded yet. I think Force is like me, though. I had someone else put it in, so I'm not sure how it's adjusted.;)
