Almost every time I press in my clutch pedal, I hear a loud "click". Sometimes if I press it in slowly, I don't hear it. But it is loud enough to be heard over my side pipes. I have lubed and greased and searched and looked,,,, so now I will do what I should have done in the first place....ask for help! Any help would be appreciated... :confused

Oh yeah, one more thing......I wave all the time :w

Can you feel it in the pedal when it "clicks"? With the engine off, does it sound like the noise is comming from inside the car? If the bushings in the pedal pivot
under the dash are worn, they can cause a "click".

Sounds like something hanging up, but this is pretty obvious to you I'm sure, so I'm no help at all in that respect. But, couldn't resist waving back & wishing you well anyway. I feel like I at least need to wave back to a fellow 'vette lover.

Did you install the TO bearing on the fork correctly?

Hi Allcoupedup, I didn't install the TO bearing, can the leaf spring clip move after installation? I haven't had the clutch apart in the three years I've own it and it just started doing this a few months ago. (had to wait until after the move from MD to get any time for the 65) And Yes Maxphunn, It sounds like it's coming from inside the car with the engine off. I'll check the bushings in the pedal pivot and try to take a look at the leaf spring clip tomorrow. Thanks for the replies and Ron, thanks for the wave! :Steer :w

Montana,

I doub't the TO bearing would wiggle itself into a bad situation. The suggestion about the bushings sounds good. You might want to check to make sure the bolts that hold the clutch pedal are not binding anywhere. If you can get a helper to push the pedal while you check things out you'll find it easier!

I had a loud click and it turned out to be the fork slot where the pushrod connects. Slot was a bit too small, and sometime hung and then clicked when pushing in the clutch.
