Help.
My 90 C4 needsa new clutch.
Got a price of 1500 dollars for a new fly wheel.??? Are they for real??
Where can I look for a better price,,and is it necessary to replace the flywheel???

Also where can I find the righ replacement clutch package.?

Our ZF equipped cars use a dual mass flywheel. If you search this forum, you will find lots of postings on it, and possible alternatives. Anyway, there is one place called "Clutch Express Inc.", at which the previous owner of my car got a new dual mass flywheel for $650. The number is 1-800-258-8247. There's another new dual mass flywheel on ebay for I think the same price.

I found a Mid-America Catalogue.

They are selling a Fidanza fly wheel for 430 dollars.
Are they any good.?? Have you ever heard of them ??

They also have clutch kits for my L98.

There are a bunch of threads on this subject if you hit the "search" function. In summary, though, consider the following:

1. You can use a normal flywheel, but you will get gear rattle from the transmission when at idle with the clutch released. it doesn't hurt anything, but people say the noise can be anoying.

2. Stay away from Fidanza and similar type flywheels---the claims sound great but you gain some things and lose others with these sorts of products in the real world.

3. I think the dual mass flywheels and clutches are made by "lok" or "luk" clutches, or some similar sounding name. They should be on the net if you look around, but I would think that Clutch Express would be a good place to ask.

My bottom line advice is that clutches and flywheels and installing them, etc. always is expensive. For our cars, I would follow the book and keep it simple and stock: use a dual mass flywheel and a standard clutch.

I have the fidanza from Mid America. The product is hit or miss... all installation based from what I learned. Mine still chatters when it is hot. If you want the car to drive like stock, get the stock fly. if you want to gain some power and save some money, go aftermarket, but find a good person to install it.
