Hello everyone and Merry Christmas.

I have a 98' and the issue I'm having is the map lights come on when the passive un-locks the doors. So I know they work.

Yet, when I buckle in and flip the switch on the mirror, no joy! This is with the car running, lights on or off. Also the visor lamps do not work.

Is there a seperate circuit or am I just not holding my mouth right o_0

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
The key is what OTHER LIGHTS work at the time your mirror lights do not.

As you have said, your mirror visor lights are inop, along with your rear view mirror map lights.

If you consider the circuits that are powered, the glove box light and the underhood light are the other 2 lights on that circuit.

Make sure that they do not work also.

If that is the case, that means the monitored load relay isnt being turned on.

So, you will need to check that.

Just let us know if the other 2 lights are not working also.

C4C5,
Thanks for your time. Your right the other lamps do not light. Where would one locate this relay?

Thanks again,

Hi there,
That is located at the passenger toe board electrical center. It is labeled MNTD LD on the diagram.

The key is, that this relay is BCM controlled and you need to find out why the relay is being turned OFF, when it shouldnt be.

You know its working, as you said earlier, because of the lighs coming on.

That being said, the BCM data would need to be looked at to see why its being commanded off.

However, you can replace the relay and see if that helps. IF THE RELAY has a part number on it, which it should, simply swap the relay with anothe in the box that has the same number.

See if your problems persist.

Allthebest, c4c5
