I don't know if this is the right place to ask, if not please excuse. I am new to the Corvette scene . I am getting a '73 Coupe. My question is "How collectable is the 73 seeing as it is the only year for this body style?"

"Larry Shinoda, the famous Corvette designer, once commented in an interview that the 1973 was his favorite of the post-1967 era because the front and rear styling were closest to what the stylists originally had in mind when this series was first designed."

(Illustrated Corvette Buyer's Guide by Michael Antonick).

Best description I can think of for the '73. It does not have quite the value of the earlier bumper cars but does not have the stigma of the latter rubber bumper cars. It is pre cat converter. True dual exhausts. And if you have the L82, none of the futuer small blocks beat it in HP until the new LT1 came out in '92.

Nostalgia for me. The first Corvette I ever rode in was a '73 convertible. Messed me up for life.

How collectible is a 73? That is a tough question. Everything is relavant. 73 attributes have been stated in previous posts but there are many more Corvettes that are valued higher by collectors and there are many that are not valued as much. Try not to worry too much about how much it is worth or will be worth.

It is a nice and unique car and you need to just enjoy it. I can tell you this it will not depreciate as fast as any new car that you buy today so you are getting a car you can have fun with and are saving money. How much better can it get?
