Hey guys, new to website hope someone out there can help. I have a 82 collector edition, and the defroster switch has four post, the wires are one red with black strip (always hot), one red ( key hot), one black with white strip, and on double black. Anyone know how the supposed to hook up starting at the top,(on) side of the switch?
Already hooked them up wrong once and blew something:mad, now can't get my amp gauge to work and my battery light keeps coming on. Can't find any blown fuses, so I don't know what wrong there either, any idea's?:ugh

1st,Welcome to CAC!!!:woot:
as to your defrost switch...
you should have a plug that the wiring should just plug in to...
if you plug is missing I can dig out the FSM and look it up...
as far as your amp(volt?) gauge and battery lite, sound like an alternator problem.

defrost switch help

Bill, thnx
There is no plug in just the wires, and they look original, with the female ends. But with this car, who knows. I can't seem to find a diagram anywhere to give me the colors of what wire goes where.
As far as the alternator, I had it tested on the car and off, it shows good. It is new so that didn't surprise me. Could I have blown the electric board, or strip, on the gauge cluster?

Thnx, Mike/Cool C3

do you have an assembly manual or factory service manual????

defrost switch help

do you have an assembly manual or factory service manual????
The only manual I have is a Haynes manual wich covers c3 vetts, however it has nothing on the defroster in it's wiring diagrams, and everything I've found on line only shows the 2 wire defrost switch wich came on most c3's. This particular switch, 4 wire, only came on the 82 collector car. What would really help is someone who owns an 82 collector car to take a quick look at the wire's going to their switch and give me a heads up. :thumb
