Collinite wax

I did a lot of research in this area after buying a black Dodge Ram last year. Black is the hardest paint I've ever had to take care of but it looks the best (IMO) when properly polished. The nice thing about Carnauba based waxes is the instant shine and wet look get but it's quickly gone by heat and a couple of good washings. I broke down and ordered the Zaino stuff (1, 3 and 5) since I wasn't sure what would work the best. Super easy to use although I initially thought it wasn't going to work well as it goes on so thin. Three coats later, and super easy to remove, that truck looks like a mirror. Couldn't be happier and the more you use it the better it looks. I know I sound like a commercial but I'm a convert.

I just pulled out my Guru Reports (The Wax Test).

The two Collinite products they tested (of 46) ranked #9 and #12. Both were better than average. I've never tried either product.

If you're looking for a carnuaba, there were 6 ranked better than the number 9 (Marque D'Elegance).

The test is nearly 2 years old and somewhat dated because of the improvements made in the industry since then. Even the top ranked (Zaino) has improved it's formulation at least once.

I use Collinite Insulator wax Mixed with Formula 113 on my '82. Have used it for years and it keeps going and going.

I used to use it straight out of the bottle, but's really hard to remove, as it takes a long time to dry, so you usually have to wipe the car three times to make sure there's none left.
Collinite is very good against acid rain, and I wish I had found it sooner.

Anyone ever use Collinite wax? My brother swears by it and wants me to try some.
They don't advertise much but it has a solid reputation. I think it's made in Upsate NY and they primarily serve their current customers. It's fairly easy to use. They only make a precleaner and a wax so if you're running into some paint issues you'll need to explore 3M or Meguiar's to find your way out of trouble.
