Color of Rear Leaf Springs

I was wondering what the "correct" finish should be for the rear spring for 1967. Gray, black, charcoal gray? I have seen/heard several possibilities, but no definitive answer. I am doing a 'frame on' restoration and want to paint the individual leafs.

I believe the correct color is a light gray primer which GM used at the factory. The liners should be natural black. Vendors sell this primer, but it won't last long, being a primer. I used a "Dove Gray" enamel on my '67 spring and it has held up quite well and cleans up nicely.

Patrick is right, you might also try dove grey powdercoat if you aren't going the NCRS route, it looks original at a glance and holds up alot longer.

Thanks so much for your help. I am not doing NCRS at this time. I 'protected' the springs with Master Series urathane (POR) and now I will finish them with the Dove Gray color.
