Hi, I was looking at the master brake and would like to know what color is the Synthetic Brake Fluid suppose to be??? They both look different. I have never dealt with this kind of brake fluid before.

Thanks

Are you talking about silicone or DOT 3/4 synthetic like Valvoline SynPower. The SynPower is just a little lighter than old school - kinda light golden or champagne color. During my annual flushes it does darken but it has never turned to the mucky dark, almost black, that traditional brake fluid does. Now if the lines were cruddy, all bets are off.

I was wrong, it's Silicone Dot5 that I was asking about. I just looked again at it and it looked kind of clear and it had part of it in the bottom that was cloudy.

DOT5 silicone fluid starts out purple, then turns amber as it ages and oxidizes. For a quick test, put about an ounce of the fluid in a glass container (like a jelly jar, etc.) and add an equal amount of water and cap it. Shake it up thoroughly and put it down. If two distinct layers form as it settles down, it's DOT5 silicone fluid; if no layers form, it's conventional DOT3/DOT4 glycol-based fluid.
