Color Theory: Are Corvette Owners What They Drive?

Hello everyone, I bought a dark navy blue coupe' about 7 momths ago. As soon as I her sitting on the lot, I was in love, blue being my favorite color. Patrick mentioned,"Devotees of blue are often low key, not wanting to draw attention to themselves or their attributes". It is true, being from CA I am pretty" laid back" about alot of things. I am a foreman at my job, and rather than toot my own horn about my work, I would rather have it speak for itself. And I don't know about not wanting to draw attention to myself. If that were so, why would I be driving such a beautiful car? ;shrug Just my .02. remember the wave:w

C5Havin,
Where do you think the phrase "true blue" came from? Blue inspires trust and confidence, and I suspect you and your Corvette are perfectly color-compatible. Well done!
:)

The 92 was Bright Red. The 94 was Torch Red. I did like being noticed while I was driving.

The cops (I live in Chicago, remember!) noticed the red ones. I never got a ticket. They just liked pulling me over and then I would give them a tour!

The 96 only came in Sebring Silver Metallic because it was a Collector Edition. Never thought about the color. I like it. I don't have to wash it every day. It always looks good. I don't get stopped anymore by the cops!

I still have the Torch Red interior which is really noticeable. So, I guess it fits me wanting to be noticed.

Patrick, great thread!

SAVE THE :w

Arctic white is like chrome white when it's Zaino'd. It fits me fine: lowkey. But open my doors and torch red leather screams "this is cool and hot at the same time!" My daughter says she has to put on sunglasses to get in the car.

I always get a kick out of seeing someone revive this thread. I can't believe it's now nearly four years since I started this thread... where does the time go?

So, hello Boeingdriver!

As I wrote in the opening post to this thread:

White:
White the assemblage of all colors. White symbolizes purity, even sterility (hence, the fact that doctors and nurses wear white when they work.) White symbolizes completeness, balance and finish.

The purity of white can lead, in extreme cases, to people who have a superiority complex. The downside to white is that it shows in start contrast, any other color- nothing is hidden with white. Far from being bland, people who like white as a color are typically iconoclasts- they enjoy being at the center of noisy attention and showing off their purity.

Now, setting aside the bright red interior for the moment, the question for you, Boeingdriver, is this: how like you is this description?
:)

I sense a loaded question on the horizon:L

Hmmmmmm? ;squint:

Vette is black and my truck is black but my wagon is silver and silver was in strong contention (or pewter), for the Vette.

Generally, I don't like to stand out or be noticed no matter what I'm driving.

My "company car" was a white Jeep and my partner and I were in a panic because the thing stood out like a sore thumb in an area where you like to blend in and not be noticed.

Red & Yellow or wild colors generally say ...... "Hey! Look at me!! .. " :eyerole

Silver

To some silver is considered to be a cold, impersonal, antispectic color. To others it's sharp,
edgey, clean and uneffected by trendy now changes. It's precise, business like and gets the
job done without fanfare. So keep this in mind when you roll up next to one at a stop light.

Remo,
Silver is a shade of gray, half way between black and white. I think you need to get off the fence and decide which color you're going with.

What's In A Color

I'm more interested in how fast it is than color-------pewter:D

ROAD PILOT, welcome to the Corvette Action Center:thumb. I found your comment interesting. I like a fast car as well as you but I must say that the color is a critical factor in the equation. Afterall, you want the color to express something about the vehicle and hopfully your personal taste.

...but not your personal hair color. Right, Remo? :chuckle

By the way, pewter is the in the family of gold, colorwise. That would make it a variant of yellow, but interestingly, with a bit of brown to it. I say interesting because in terms of meaning applied to color, yellow and brown are fairly opposite one another.

White is the choice of the Gods. Look back on any mythology you know and you will find this to be the case. Therefore, I am the man with a white 'vette and a white woman!!

You know, one of my least favorite tasks as the Color Theory expert is burst the self-delusion bubbles of others. The paperwork alone is daunting. However, in this case, it seems necessary. A reminder about white...

Choice of the gods? Arobber, I sense that some extensive counseling may be in order here. The fact that you link the color white to classical mythology is very telling. In classical mythology, the gods were beings who delighted in tormenting mortals, testing and tantalizing and denying us their secrets.

I think there may be a potential doctoral thesis in analyzing these neuroses. White, as a superior, 'god' chosen color? You are clearly expressing a sense of transferance, of incompleteness that needs something from classical literature to provide meaning. White, as a color, is an amalgamation of every color, and it symbolizes a false sense of purity because it is untarnished by any other color.

First question- how often do you find it necessary to clean your white Corvette?
