Ok.....hope you don't end up getting towed one day:cry:beer

Me too; but it has operated for over 6 years the way it is. I have heard horror stories about problems after the recall has been performed. But I in no way want to come across as a know it all because I do not! I am just not even a little bit convienced GM or should I say the dealers I've checked with know what to do exactly and until I am I might be taking my chances but I have personally talked to ones that have had this recall done, never had any issues to start with and then BANG they had problems, so who knows what is right here. Some of them wish they had never had it done :mad to start with but it was too late for them, just don't want to run out of options here. I am still listening and hopefully learning in the process and then I will make the decision I am comfortable with.

Still :confused but paying attention to the discussion.

O.K so who's had a problem with CLB ? whats the down side? I have one ,works great at least I haven't gotten stuck on the Geo .Washington bridge in the middle of the night. It appears to me G M has had their finger up the kazoo since 97.

From my VERY VERY limited experience with this, it seems that those that have had problems have either not had any recall work done or had the first recall done ( which obviously didn't work, hence the most recent recall ). I decided to have the second recall done based on the Corvette tech's advice that I previously mentioned. Only time will tell if I did the right thing.

I never installed the CLB nor have I had the recall done, been woring for over 6 years now as it is and I am still not conveinced GM knows 100% what to do, and I don't trust dealers in my area to do it anyway without screwing it or something else up. Differant dealers I have talked to have differant interpertations of this recall. Right now I would rather take my chances and leave it alone, like I said it has been working for over 6 years and I have been on some fairly long trips with it; knock :hb on wood as they say; but who the hell is they right? :confused

Of course this is just my opinion and maybe shouldn't be tried at your home :L I am just setting back and listening and waiting, the math of over 6 years running like it is means more than me so far than anthing else the dealers are telling me, just not conveinced neither GM or most of the dealers I've talked to know exactly what to do.

Just me, ;shrug

Some of my point exactly, how many more updates with there be; GM has beat this to death :bang lost credibility and hasn't conveinced me they really know what to do for sure, henceforth another update. My over 6 years of field testing without the recall is a lot more solid than there so called fixes and updates :confused

Again this is just my way of looking at it so far ;shrug

HI there,
After a CLB or GM fix the following has happened in our dealership.
3 GM relays have gone bad, out of over 50 04006C recalls done.
No charge to customer, as they would see 'service column lock'
Out of seeing 11 CLB equipped vehicle come in for "service column lock", 7 BCM for failure of sensing circuits due to inadequate voltage loading of the relays within the BCM and 4 failed CLB module.

c4c5specialist,

I would have more faith in the recall being performed right if I could bring it to the dealership you work out; because I trust you; you insist on doing it right or not at all; :BOWyou da Man in my book. I have checked with a number of dealerships in my area and get differant senerios on what they are going to do and not do reguardless of the recall and/or instructions; and some have said GM don't know what to do for sure, some say leave it alone, others say they will do the recall but they do not have much faith in it taking care of the problem and there are no guarantees. The big thing I hear is if you haven't had any issues or problems for over 6 years why do anything :confused So needless to say I am thourghly confused to say the least! Just waiting for GM to get all the updates out of their system maybe :confused Not really sure yet what to do but in the mean time mine is operating as designed, maybe I am taking a chance but I like my odds better than all I've heard at this point about these recalls and updates ;shrug

I also would a comfort factor with the "specialist''. I have no comfort now in any of the options.I guess i'll stick with my CLB for now. This post has been beat to death for years in one form or another.Hopefully prior to the introduction of the c-8's there will be a 100% absolute fix.

We can only hope; in the mean time I will put more faith in the over 6 years of field testing than anything I've heard to this point or do the recall and cause other problems; I like the odds I have presently better ;shrug Maybe I am taking a chance but we do that unknowingly everyday with something.

What is causing the inadequate voltage loading ?
