Thanks for adding me , Having some trouble with my 1996 Vetts interior light timer. Took the dash apart and did not find the darn thing. Any suggestions :confused

Assuming this is a coupe and not a convertible.


The interior light delay timer is built into the Central Control Module which is located on the transmission hump below the radio. It's removed sideways on the driver side. If you pull the carpet back there is a plastic trap door to access it.

Are all the interior lights coming on or just the cargo lamps on the B pillar?
If only the B pillar could be the rear hatch ajar switch needs adjusting.

Are you sure the headlight dimmer switch is not turning the interior lights on?

If all the interior lights are on do the following.

Take the door key and rotate the key to open and lock each door. Make sure when you remove the key it's in the full vertical position. Wait for a minute and verify if the lights stay on or go out.

If that doesn't solve the problem turn the ignition On and open either door, does the door ajar indicator come on the driver information center and go out when you close the door?

Pull codes by shorting pin 4 to pin 12 on the diagnostic connector located above the drivers knee.
Turn the ignition On and look at the speedometer LCD. Codes for each module will display on the LCD.

C12 or ------ are not error codes.

See if any codes for module 1 are present. That's the CCM. The CCM controls and monitors the courtesy lamp relay.
