My bro had a tranny service which included a flush. We would normally have done it but this was easy with such short notice. We picked the car up and the bill was 129.95 which we expected. As we were leaving I told them I would bring my car down since it needs it. They told us that my car would be 20 dollars more because when they quoted the price they didn't take into count the cross brace under the car. The extra 20 bucks is like a dollar a bolt. Can I take it off and drive 4 miles to the tranny shop? I could service the tranny but i couldn't flush the fluid like they can.

Sure, you can drive it without the brace; it was only added to provide a little more support when they re-introduced the convertible to the model lineup. Unless you hit some extreme bumps or railroad tracks on your way to the shop, it shouldn't hurt a bit. Even if there were bumps in the road, I wouldn't worry - there's more stiffening going on than just the x-brace. ;)

Thanks Ken I just couldn't justify paying them almost 30 bucks more to take it off. I have been told i am so cheap when i wink my toes curl :L .
