Convertible on parade question!

My convertible is on standby for use in a homecoming parade next weekend. I did a search and found a very good thread on protecting the seat, console and tonneau cover - but I've got a question about the speed (or lack of) and temp issue. My car is an automatic so I won't be riding the clutch, but should I simply run it in low gear? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I've never driven in a parade before. Any advice from those experienced in such matters would be appreciated!

You shouldn't need to use any gear other than 'drive' as you may never get up to a speed that will allow the auto trans to shift. With air temperatures getting lower every day, over-temp conditions are also going to be rare.

Make sure your radiator area is clear of plastic bags, paper, leaves, etc. and you should be good to go. If the air temperature is high - 90's+ - you make see the coolant temp go up to the 230 range. This is pretty normal for driving parades in the heat. You can turn the airconditioner on and that turns the radiator fans on. If it's that warm, I'm usually running the airconditioner anyway.

Keep the Air Con on it runs the fan and keeps the motor cooler.

I would run mine in D, the issue of keeping it cool depends on how far the parade route is!

You should have no problem if the radiator is clean.Your car will love it !
