Can any of you show me custom boxes you have made for convertibles. Also Dimensions would be nice to since I dont have a folding top for my car right now but want to have clearance for the top after the box is in place.

I would actually like to build one but at the same time fiberglass it to the floor in my car so it has a nice look to it and clears my decklid hinges and all.

Or can you make it out of foam and then make a fiberglass mold of it? I would actually like to make it so it houses speakers, amp, and C/D changer.

If you are going to drive with the top down often i wouldn't put anything back there.I put a couple of 6x9's back there and can barely hear them because the top blocks the sound.I've been thinking about adding a couple of speakers in the kick panels and putting a powered Bazooka bass tube back there.

There more you stick back there, the less storage space you're going to have, but it's your ride.

All the aftermarket providers carry the speaker enclosures. Most are slip fit which allows you to remove them if the need arises. Probably cheaper and quicker than making your own.

:)

Is there actually much room back there when the top is down?

Not a lot of room.

I have a KHE-300 (50W x 4) with four Pioneer 4 x 6" speakers: two in upper dash and two in kick panels.

I sold my 1967 coupe in July but here was the setup. Off the shelf from FutureShop. They might work in a C3 convertible but measure carefully.

Huh... mine stick out only a little bit. Not sure if these would work for you, but they might be of some inspiration..

Yes, its a small space as others have said, but its doable. I designed my own compression box with 2 - 8" woofers, 2- 6x9's, and two amps with a combined 2000+ watts. Likely to say I have ZERO room left in the back, but I can bring the top down and close the deck with no problem. I can also open the three rear compartment doors (fully). I'll see if I can get a picture for you. Dimensions will be tuff because its an odd shape by design.

not for a convertible but my husband made a box, installed the speakers and covered it with the new carpeting and inserted some foam towards the front of the car under the carpeting.

made pretty good use of the dead space, but the amp sort of blew that concept - pun intended :-)

My hinges would be a issue with mounting speakers like you did. I'm going to check out what C4 convertible rear speaker housings are like though.

How much built & shipped to 92399.

I think our floors are the same mine is a 74 floor if there is a difference.

Bare box or covered? I would have to do some looking around to see what sound boxes normally cost from a retailer to be fair. I've only built them for myself in the past, so I really don't know what the going rate is. I'll have to get back to you.

needs to be bare since I haven't decided on the color I want the interior to be as of yet.

I don't own a Convertible, but this is what I did to my '81 :thumb. I built mine out of solid oak.
