Convertible top is rubbing through the paint on the deck lid

Still wwwwwaaaaiiitting......

Just for the record I am still awaiting the dealer obtaining the #5 bow seal. I am considering a DIY 'stuffing' of the existing seal so that I can venture out as soon as the salt has been washed away.

Now Vettes are not officially imported Chevrolet representatives here, my local dealership at least, have lost all interest. Even after giving them all the info, which eventually they accepted was correct, they seem incapable of obtaining the part.

To keep the record straight, progress is being made but we are not counting chickens yet.

The Customer Care Centre for GM is handled by Vauxhall Motors in the UK, Telephone 01582 427200 and Fax 01582 426694. I followed up my call to the CCC with a fax stating the full details of all the defects. :r

Six days after contacting them and receiving a Case Number, surprise surprise I got a call from the dealership to say that the weatherstrip has arrived. I have made an appointment, their earliest available, for the 14th March 2003.

Obviously I am not out of the woods yet, but it beats the advice from another service seeking Brit 'take your car to Germany they will sort it out'. Hopefully I will be able to drive soon with the top up when it is essential, I will keep you posted.

Got a RESULT

The trip to the dealership today went off as planned [it was a real treat to travel top down and you don't plan that in the UK :cool], I was not quite the first in the Service Department queue but certainly in good time.

I had requested the 36 months service as it was due, even though the oil life was still in the 90's the car not being run over the winter.

The GM time for replacing the 5th Bow Seal obviously went 'out of the window' as they had the car a full 8 hours including the service. Close observation showed that they had to make some basic adjustments to the top but the end result has a healthy gap between the top, when raised, and the hard cover panel.

The other two jobs have had to be differed until another time but the big problem is satisfactorily resolved. We have to take into consideration that this work is possibly a one off, given the number of Corvettes they service.

So, very well done Crownhill of Milton Keynes:Twist .

Best regards,

Stan
