i hear a lot hear about cooling fans............i only see one on mine ... right where they all are on all cars

If optioned so....your C4 should have a small booster fan on the front side of the radiator.

Primary should come on around 220 Secondary around 230

The primary should come on also when A/C headpressure is up - which is just about any time the A/C is on.
The fan out front will come on at 228F.

Or not at all...

Not sure about this, but I think the aux/fan is RPO BP4.

thanks for the response.....i dont have code bp4 and i dont see a aux fan ...just the one under the hood where a fan will normally be......it comes on at 229 ideling or when i turn the air on.....cools it down to about 218 before shutting off...........

There's a fellow in the Atlanta area selling the aux fan on E-Bay, brand new, for a really good price, "Buy it now" for $45.
I got one from him two months ago, it was exactly as represented, a new in the box GM part for the C4 Corvette.
Installation might take you an hour if you're working carefully and meticulously.
Wiring is a separate issue. I recommend getting a solenoid and controlling it through a switch under the dash.

Your 84 probably only has one fan. Ours did. We ended up mounting a second one where the normal auxillary went and wired it to the primary so they both run at the same time. made a big difference on how cool it ran. We also by-passed the switch and grounded the wire so it runs all the time. We are in sunny Tucson, AZ so it is warm year 'round here. :cool
