I just changed oil for the first time (my first time with this car), 1964 roadster 327 365 horse, numbers match, correct oil pan. My information shows 6 qts with filter change (origional canister filter), dipstick reads 1/2 qt over full? Dipstick tube is chrome which I understand is also origional, dipstick is not chrome and is part #3846810m could this be the problem ? I'am using Quaker 30 wt detergent which I used to use way back when in other 283's & 327's. Also what about operating the car with the oil supposedly 1/2 over?

Could be wrong, but I don't recall original dipstick tube being chrome plated. I think that the handle of the dipstick itself is chrome plated. No help with the part number.

You're correct that 63 and 64 "high horse" cars with the original cannister filters use 6 quarts, assuming that you have the correct, so called "six quart" oil pan. Chuck

Got 365HP as well. My dipstick tube is not chrome...however I have got a 66 factory exchange block in my car...so I cannot determine if that is original.

The original dipstick was chrome (but the tube wasn't); it measured 19-3/16" from the seat to the "full" mark, and 20" from the seat to the "add" mark. Service P/N 3846811.
